The Governors at HPS
There are 11 Governors, including two Parent Governors who are elected by the parents of the children at the school, and two school representatives. They are actively involved in the life of the school and are responsible for its general management and finance. They provide a bridge between the school and neighbouring communities.

Director Appointed Governor : Mrs Jennie Perry
Jennie has been a Governor at Hornton Primary School since 2013 and was Chair of Governors from September 2015 until October 2017. She currently works as a Lead Early Years Advisory Teacher for Oxfordshire County Council, following a teaching career in the early years and across the Primary age range. Her professional job complements her role as governor and there are many areas of expertise which enhance her role on the data and curriculum committee, including around safeguarding, the EYFS, data analysis and curriculum development. Jennie lives in Hornton, has one son, Jack, and is keen to support the school in their current journey to outstanding by offering support and advice as a critical friend.
Headteacher: Mr Matt Green
Matt has been a governor at Hornton Primary School since taking the role of Deputy headteacher in September 2012. Involved in all aspects of the day to day running of school, Matt informs the governor body of the strengths of school and the areas that need developing. Matt liaises directly with the other members of the governing body in maters such as pupil progress, the school development plan and school maintenance. Matt works closely with the governing body to ensure that school continues to improve and deliver the very best education for the children of Hornton and the surrounding area.
Vice Chair & Director Appointed Governor: Mr Simon Attfield
Simon has been a Governor at Horton Primary School since 2004. He originally joined as a parent governor when he had two children at the school. Simon is now a board appointed governor and is currently vice chairman and sits on the finance committee. Simon runs his own business in Banbury.
Parent Governor: Mrs Joss Atkinson
Joss Atkinson, joined as parent governor in January 2017. She has one daughter at Hornton in year 5 and a son at the Warriner. Joss is a professional fundraiser and former public affairs consultant. She is a member of the PTA and currently chair of the curriculum and data committee.
Parent Governor: Mr Lee Atherton
Lee Atherton joined as a parent governor in September 2017. He sits on both the safeguarding and Finance committees. He currently has 2 children at Hornton in years 4 and 6. Lee has run his own business as an Advertising and Commercial photographer for over 20 years. In his spare time he enjoys playing Tennis, surfing and DIY.
Director Appointed Governor and Chair of Governors: Mr Chris King
Chris King, joined as a Director appointed Governor in October 2017 and was appointed Chair of the HPS Governors in November 2017. He has 2 daughters currently at the school, one in Peach Tree and one in year 2. Chris is a business improvement manager and currently sits on both the curriculum and data committee and the Finance and Personnel Committee.
Director Appointed Governor: Mrs Antionette Powell
Antoinette Powell joined as a director appointed governor in June 2017. She moved to Hornton in July 2016 having worked as a teacher and within the charity sector in London. Antoinette currently works as a communications consultant specialising in international development. She is a member of the curriculum and data committee.
Director Appointed Governor: Mr Duncan Raper
Duncan has been a Governor at Horton Primary School since 2004 and was Chair for 6 years until 2015; he is currently Chair of Finance and Personnel. Duncan is also a Governor at The Warriner School and has been Chair of Governors since October 2015. He has 2 daughters, both attended Hornton Primary School and the youngest is currently in the Warriner 6th Form. Duncan is a Chartered Accountant who has worked in Industry for over 30 years.
Duncan was also part of the steering group that ultimately formed the Warriner MAT. He is a Director and The Chair of the Board of Directors and as such is also a Member of the Warriner MAT.
Staff Governor: Mrs Karen Locke
Karen became a Teacher Governor at Hornton Primary School in 2016, shortly before taking the role of Assisitant Headteacher. Starting in 2008, she is the longest serving member of staff at the school. Karen specialises in Early Years, however, her work as the school SENCo, sees her working closely with children across the whole age range. Karen supports her co-governors on the Curriculum and Data Committee.
Director Appointed Governor: Mr Roger Corke
Roger is the longest-serving governor of Hornton Primary School, having served since 2000. He's a freelance television journalist, making films for series like the BBC's Panorama and Channel 4's Dispatches. He also has good contacts with the Banbury Guardian and uses his journalistic expertise to try to raise the profile of the school in the local media. Director Appointed Governor: Mrs Lynn Fickling
Lynne has been a Governor at Hornton Primary School for several years. Lynne has considerable experience in the field of education, working in both secondary and higher education establishments. Her professional job supports her role as Governor and member of the Data and Curriculum committee. Lynne is the Lead Governor for SEND.
